ADP: October Private-Sector Employment Up 365,000
ADP, Roseland, N.J., said private-sector employment increased by 365,000 jobs from September to October.
The company’s monthly National Employment Report said by company size, small businesses (1-49 employees) added 114,000 jobs; medium-sized businesses (50-499 employees) added 135,000 jobs; and large businesses added 116,000 jobs.
By sector, Goods-producing employers added 17,000 jobs; and service-providing employers added 348,000 jobs.
“The labor market continues to add jobs, yet at a slower pace,” said Ahu Yildirmaz, vice president and cohead of the ADP Research Institute. “Although the pace is slower, we’ve seen employment gains across all industries and sizes.”
The report comes ahead of Thursday’s Initial Claims report from the Labor Department; and Friday’s Employment Report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
