MBA NEWSLINK: Tell us about yourself.

Adam Krings

ADAM KRINGS: Hello! My name is Adam Krings and I’m the Call Center Quality Assurance Coordinator at Massachusetts Housing Finance Agency, or MassHousing for short, in Boston. I work with anything related to mortgage servicing, but I primarily focus on customer service, quality assurance, and training. I’ve been in the business for about 2.5 years and my education background is actually in music. I play the French horn and still do some teaching and freelance work.

NEWSLINK: How did you learn about the MBA Path to Diversity Program?

KRINGS: I learned about the MBA Path to Diversity Program on the MBA website after a recommendation from my manager to check out the courses the MBA has to offer.

NEWSLINK: What inspired you to become more involved? Did a co-worker/supervisor/mentor encourage your participation?

KRINGS: I’m the type of person that always wants to learn and do more. I started in the call center 2.5 years ago with a lot of customer service experience, but no experience whatsoever in mortgage finance. The field really piqued my interest and I wanted to learn more. Ultimately, it was my manager who referred me to MBA and I’ve been able to learn so much because of it. The agency as a whole has been so supportive of me furthering my education, but my manager in the loan administration department has really been a key mentor and source of support for me.

NEWSLINK: Did you find the application process to be user-friendly?

KRINGS: The application process couldn’t be more user-friendly.  The instructions are clear, it’s easy to submit your documents, and any questions I had were answered quickly.

NEWSLINK: How has the Path to Diversity scholarship benefited you, personally and professionally?

KRINGS: The Path to Diversity scholarship is what really kickstarted my journey with MBA and the School of Mortgage Banking. It has given me a sense of authority and empowerment regarding the mortgage finance industry which has really helped me personally and professionally. The MBA education I’ve received as a result of the Path to Diversity scholarship has been a major contributing factor to the career advancement I’ve achieved in the past 2.5 years.

NEWSLINK: What have you been able to bring back to your company as a result of the Path to Diversity program?

KRINGS: I’ve been able to bring confidence and a well-rounded perspective back to my work and MassHousing. My eyes have been opened to how much there is to learn about the mortgage finance industry. My goal is to keep learning and become a “one-stop shop” at the office. It’s always nice to give back to those that have given you so much support and opportunity.

NEWSLINK: What would you say to someone considering applying for a Path to Diversity scholarship?

KRINGS: Do it! Everyone has a unique perspective and story to tell. The answer will always be “no” if you don’t try.  If you try, the answer could be “yes!” It’s never bad or too late to improve on yourself and get a leg up.
