Ahead of today’s employment report from the Labor Department, ADP, Roseland, N.J., said private sector employment increased by 2.37 million jobs from May to June.

By company size, the ADP National Employment Report said small businesses led with 937,000 jobs. Medium-sized businesses added 559,000 jobs, while large businesses added 873,000 jobs.

By sector, leisure/hospitality rebounded a bit in June, adding 961,000 jobs, followed by education/health services at 283,000 jobs and trade/transportation/utilities with 288,000 jobs. The service-providing industry added 1.912 million jobs, while goods-producing employers added 457,000 jobs.

“Small business hiring picked up in the month of June,” said Ahu Yildirmaz, vice president and co-head of the ADP Research Institute. “As the economy slowly continues to recover, we are seeing a significant rebound in industries that once experienced the greatest job losses.”

The Bureau of Labor Statistics will release its employment report at 8:30 a.m. ET this morning, one day early because of the Independence Day holiday.
