MISMO Issues Draft Update to SMART Doc Implementation Guide
MISMO announced release of a draft update to its SMART Doc® Implementation Guide for member comment.
The update, officially referred to as the MISMO Version1.02 SMART Doc® Implementation Guide, will be available for a 60-day member comment period through December 15.
A SMART Doc® is an electronic document that can lock together data and presentation in such a way that it can be system-validated to guarantee the integrity of the document. Significant enhancements were made to the implementation guide and related tools to provide clarification, enhance usability and accelerate adoption.
The Guide was updated to include sample eNote language and provide detailed data mappings for several industry uniform note instrument scenarios. These scenarios are further supplemented by sample XML code to support individuals or companies that plan to implement SMART Docs. These enhancements will allow increased consistency of SMART Doc’s created across the industry which will allow trading partners to consume the data from the SMART Doc more seamlessly. No changes were made to the version 1.02 SMART Doc® actual specifications as that would break backward compatibility with existing eNotes.
The comment period is also intended to afford work group participants who worked on the proposed enhancements to SMART Doc® version 1.02 and related materials at least 30 days’ notice prior to final release to review the model and disclose any applicable Patent Rights (as defined by MISMO’s 2018 Intellectual Property Rights Policy). Disclosures and comments should also be directed to info@mismo.org.
At this time, MISMO also requests that organizations disclose in writing (to info@mismo.org) any patents and patent applications that might be infringed by an organization that uses or is compliant with the updated SMART Doc® 1.02 implementation guide and related materials.
Industry participants who have comments or questions about the updated MISMO SMART Doc standards and related implementation guidance and sample scenarios may contact MISMO at info@mismo.org.
Release and use of MISMO standards, including the SMART Doc 1.02 implementation guide and related materials, are governed by the MISMO Intellectual Property Rights Policy. More information about the enhancements can be found on the SMART Doc Version 1.02 page on www.mismo.org.
