Senate Banking Committee Moves Brian Montgomery Nomination as HUD Deputy Secretary

The Senate Banking Committee approved Brian Montgomery’s nomination as HUD Deputy Secretary by a 20-5 vote.

Montgomery had strong support from the Mortgage Bankers Association. Following the Banking Committee vote, MBA President and CEO Robert Broeksmit, CMB, issued a statement commending the vote.

“MBA commends the Senate Banking Committee for approving the nomination of Brian Montgomery to be the next HUD Deputy Secretary,” Broeksmit said. “His knowledge, experience, and aptitude will serve him well in this position as he serves alongside Secretary Ben Carson and other members of the administration. We look forward to continuing to work with HUD on the important issues facing the housing economy, and urge the full the Senate to promptly take up this vote.”

Montgomery, who currently serves as FHA Commissioner, was nominated by the Trump Administration in October to fill the Deputy Secretary slot after Pam Patenaude stepped down earlier this year.

Montgomery’s nomination now moves to the full Senate for approval.
