Terry McAuliffe, Chris Christie, Margaret Brennan Keynote MBA Annual19 General Session

LogoIt’s only summer, but the Mortgage Bankers Association’s Annual Convention (Oct. 27-30 in Austin, Texas) is already heating up, with former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and CBS News’ Fact the Nation host Margaret Brennan keynoting the Politics Today General Session on Tuesday, Oct. 29.

Chris Christie was inaugurated as the 55th Governor of New Jersey in 2010, serving two terms. He was elected Chairman of the Republican Governors Association in 2014, leading the organization to a record fundraising effort and the election of 31 Republican Governors. In, 2017, President Trump appointed Christie Chairman of the President’s Commission on Combating Drug Addiction and the Opioid Crisis, leading the Commission on a seven-month investigation of this issue, holding hearings around the country. Prior to his service as Governor, he served as the United States Attorney for the District of New Jersey from January 2002 to December 2008. He was nominated by President George W. Bush on December 7, 2001 and unanimously confirmed by the United States Senate on December 20, 2001. He currently serves as a Senior Legal and Political Commentator for ABC News and the Managing Member of the Christie Law Firm and Christie 55 Solutions LLC in Morristown, NJ.

Margaret Brennan, Moderator of CBS News’ Face the Nation and CBS News’ Senior Foreign Affairs Correspondent, has reported on politics, international affairs and global markets for nearly two decades. She is one of the most visible faces in political news today and only the second-ever female host of the 63-year-old program Face the Nation. She joined CBS News in 2012 and was named White House and senior foreign affairs correspondent in 2017. She has been based in Washington since 2012 and has reported on the Trump administration, and previously President Obama’s administration, for all CBS News programs. Previously, she covered the State Department for four years. Prior to joining CBS News, she spent a decade covering the global financial markets. Brennan anchored and reported for Bloomberg Television globally. Previously, she was a correspondent at CNBC with a focus on the consumer during the financial crisis.

Terry McAuliffe was elected the 72nd Governor of Virginia in 2013. He also served as Chairman of the National Governors Association, where he used that leadership position to assist states as they strengthened their cybersecurity policies and infrastructure. He currently serves as a Distinguished Visiting Professor at the Schar School of Policy and Government at George Mason University. He entered national politics at the age of 23 as the national finance director for President Jimmy Carter. He was elected Democratic National Committee chairman in 2000 and served until 2005. He co-chaired President Bill Clinton’s 1996 campaign for reelection and his 1997 Presidential Inauguration. He was also chairman of the 2000 Democratic National Convention and chairman of Hillary Clinton’s 2008 Presidential Campaign.
