MBANow: Wes Horbatuck of Compass Analytics on Networking, mPact
The Mortgage Bankers Association released a new MBANow video featuring Wes Horbatuck, Business Services Manager with Compass Analytics LLC, Encinitas Calif., who discusses mPact, MBA’s network for young professionals in the real estate finance industry, and the value of engaging through MBA.
The video can be downloaded at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rj6ErW_pb5w&feature=em-uploademail.
Horbatuck, 28, has been in the industry for six years, the past two with Compass. He said he got involved in MBA early in his career and has attended several mPact events. “Being involved has allowed me network and attend conferences,” he said. “I’ve seen important people speak throughout the years and it’s been pretty beneficial.”
Horbatuck added that participation with MBA has provided his company with a return on investment. He leads an Advisory Committee at Compass that meets after every MBA event to discuss themes and opportunities within the industry. “I’m not only able to take that [ROI] from my own point, but I’m able to spread that to our clients and other individuals,” he said. “The biggest return, which I think a lot of people don’t normally do, is we take that information and post it and talk about it with other employees who don’t normally get to attend these events; now they’re thinking the same way that everyone who does get to attend are able to, giving us a like-minded approach at our company.”
Horbatuck said he has been involved with mPact for nearly two years. “It’s really pushing for my generation, which is amazing because I’m able to meet people who are thinking the same way; are newer and looking for opportunities as well,” he said. “Being able to candidly speak with people of my generation and talk about things like integration and opportunities allow us to bring that level, that theme of the future.”
