Ellie Mae Community Pro-Am Raises $40K for MBA Opens Doors Foundation

The Ellie Mae Community Pro-Am, held Aug. 8 during the Ellie Mae Classic in Hayward, Calif., and sponsored by HousingWire, raised $40,000 for its beneficiary, The MBA Opens Doors Foundation.

The 2018 Ellie Mae Classic at TPC Stonebrae Pro-Am brought together sponsors from across the mortgage banking industry, including HousingWire, Ellie Mae, Teraverde Financial, PrimeLending and Pulte Mortgage.

The Opens Doors Foundation also benefited from the many companies that expressed their support through HousingWire’s special edition, “The Housing Industry Gives Back” (https://www.housingwire.com/keywords/28107-the-housing-industry-gives-back).

Charity is a key part of every PGA Tour-sanctioned event. In 2017, the PGA Tour generated $180 million dollars for charity across all six of its owned Tours, including the Web.com Tour. The Ellie Mae Classic draws a unique array of players and fans from the real estate finance industry and benefits not just Opens Doors, but the Warriors Community Foundation as well.

“The mission of helping to keep families with a sick child in their homes during what is arguably one of the most devastating and confusing times in a family’s life is very personal to me,” said Deitch, CEO of Teraverde Financial. “At the same time, I know I and many others in the mortgage banking industry are more fortunate than most, and so I believe very much in giving back and paying it forward to families in need.”

Ellie Mae has served as title sponsor for the Web.com Tour’s Ellie Mae Classic for the past three years, bringing together some of the world’s best golfers as well as celebrities such as Golden State Warriors All-Star guard, Stephen Curry.

The Opens Doors Foundation provides rental and mortgage payment assistance to families with critically ill children, allowing parents and guardians to be by a child’s side during treatment, without fear of jeopardizing their home.

The Foundation has made more than 2,400 grant awards to families from 41 states since 2012. Through the generosity of the Mortgage Bankers Association, which pays all operational expenses of the Foundation, Opens Doors is able to pass on 100 percent of donations received to families in need. Potential recipients of the grants are identified through the Foundation’s ongoing relationship with nine children’s hospitals in Washington, D.C.; Boston; Dallas-Fort Worth; Houston; Denver; Northern and Southern California; and Akron, Ohio.
