Notice of MBA 2017 Annual Meeting

The Mortgage Bankers Association will distribute electronic ballots for approval of Officers and Directors for the MBA Annual Meeting.

All Regular Members will shortly receive an email ballot for the approval of the slate of Officers and At-Large Directors.

The authorized representatives of Regular Members on the books of MBA as of October 2, 2017 will receive ballots shortly thereafter. Under MBA’s bylaws, 2 ½% of the Regular Members are required to vote for the election to be effective. So–your vote matters!

The ballot will be open for one week. It will be accessible on mobile devices. The email containing the ballot link will contain a randomly generated password for access to the ballot.

MBA’s Annual Opening Ceremony will lead off at the Annual Convention. It is scheduled for Sunday, October 22, 2017 at 5:15 p.m. MT in the Mile High Ballroom at the Colorado Convention Center. At this session, the Officers and Directors will be sworn in.

This year’s chair of the Nominating Committee was Immediate Past Chairman William C. Emerson, Chief Executive Officer of Quicken Loans, Inc. The full committee may be found here.

The Nominating Committee’s nominees for 2018 are: for MBA Chairman, J. David Motley, CMB, President of Colonial Savings, F.A.; for Chairman-Elect, Christopher M. George, CMB, President and Chief Executive Officer of CMG Financial; and for Vice Chairman, Brian F. Stoffers, CMB, Global President or Debt and Structured Finance of CBRE Capital Markets.

The slate of At-Large Directors consists of: D. Steve Boland, Managing Director of Consumer Lending of Bank of America; Jonathan Corr, President and Chief Executive Officer of Ellie Mae; William Cosgrove, CMB, Chief Executive Officer of Union Home Mortgage; Thomas S. Dennard, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Grandbridge Real Estate Capital LLC; Kristy Fercho, President of Mortgage Banking or Flagstar Bank, FSB; Tari L. Returning members of the Board of Directors along with the representatives of the Commercial/Multifamily Board of Governors (“COMBOG”) and the Residential Board of Governors (“RESBOG”) may be found here. In addition to the At-Large Directors and the Immediate Past Chairman serving on the Board, the MBA Bylaws call for each Board of Governors to select four of its members to serve on the Board. Board members serve staggered two-year terms except for the Officers and leadership of the COMBOG, the latter of whom each serve one three-year term, corresponding to their term of service on the COMBOG ladder. David Stevens, CMB, MBAs President and CEO, serves on the Board ex officio as a non-voting member.

The MBA Board of Directors approved the use of an electronic ballot at its meeting a year ago August. Increasingly more states are enacting legislation permitting voting by electronic means.
