MBA Swears in 2018 Officers
DENVER–The Mortgage Bankers Association swore in its 2018 officers–Dave Motley, CMB; Christopher George; and Brian Stoffers, CMB–here at the Association’s Annual Convention & Expo.
“Dave Motley has all the qualifications to serve as MBA’s Chairman; however, his wonderful personality and skillful leadership make him uniquely qualified to lead our association into the future,” said Rodrigo Lopez, CMB, MBA Immediate Past Chairman. “It has been my deep pleasure serving with Dave over the past two years. I have always valued his friendship and look forward to supporting him in the year ahead.”
Dave Motley, CMB, 2018 Chairman
Motley will serve as the 2018 MBA Chairman. He is President of Colonial Savings F.A., Fort Worth, Texas, and its divisions–Colonial National Mortgage and CU Members Mortgage.
“Dave Motley is the real deal–a person of uncompromising integrity who says what he means and means what he says,” said his boss, Colonial Savings Chairman Jim DuBose.
“I am honored to serve as MBA’s 2018 Chairman and look forward to the year ahead,” Motley said. “It will be a pleasure to work with both Chris and Brian and together we will ensure that MBA serves its many members, of all sizes, by focusing on the issues that most affect the residential and commercial/multifamily industries.”
Motley has been an active member of MBA for more than two decades. He served as 2017 Chairman of MBA’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee and served on the MBA Board of Directors for six years. Additionally, Motely has served on the MBA Residential Board of Governors since 2008, including two years as Chair.
Motley has also served on MBA’s Secondary and Capital Markets, Residential Loan Production, and Loan Administration Committees and as the Servicing-21 Working Group Co-Chair. He received MBA’s highest honor, the Andrew D. Woodard Distinguished Service Award, in 2013 and is also a recipient of the the Top 25 Member Heads of Mortgage Award.
Christopher George, 2018 Chairman-Elect
George is the founder, President and CEO of CMG Financial, San Ramon, Calif., a privately held mortgage bank. The company conducts business in 49 states and the District of Columbia and holds federal agency lending approvals with HUD, VA, RHS, Ginnie Mae, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
George has served on the MBA Board of Directors since 2012, is a member of the MBA Independent Mortgage Bankers Executive Council and the MBA Consumer Affairs Advisory Council, as well as an active member of MBA advocacy efforts. Additionally, he is past Chairman of the California Mortgage Bankers Association and has served on many advisory boards and task forces within the industry.
Brian Stoffers, CMB, 2018 Vice Chair
Stoffers is the Global President of Debt & Structured Finance with CBRE, where he oversees a practice that has nearly 140 professionals and has originated $216 billion in loan volumes since 2007. He has extensive experience in origination, structuring, placement, closing and servicing of commercial real estate debt for life insurance companies, pension funds, banks, savings and loans, Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, FHA and Wall Street sources.
In 2015, Stoffers received the MBA Commercial/Multifamily Distinguished Service Award. He has served on the Association’s Affordable Rental Housing Task Force, GSE Multifamily Task Force and Risk Retention Task Force. He has been a top contributor to MBA’s Opens Doors Foundation, which sponsors philanthropic activities focused on home and community support, and is an active supporter of the MBA Mortgage Action Alliance.
