MBANow: MBA Chairman Dave Motley, CMB

The Mortgage Bankers Association released a new MBANow video featuring MBA Chairman Dave Motley, CMB, who discussed his goals as Chairman at the recent MBA Annual Convention & Expo in Denver.

Motley, President of Colonial Savings F.A., Fort Worth, Texas, said the lack of affordable housing facing the industry and consumers right now is a priority that must be addressed. “For the last nine years, we just haven’t built enough housing,” he said. “So what we need to do is work with coalition partners, like the [National Association of] Realtors and the [National Association of] Home Builders and the developers to try to come up with strategies to improve the supply of affordable housing.”

Motley said one role as Chairman will be to increase MBA visibility on Capitol Hill “to talk about the real grassroots street-level problems that exist with some of the regulations that we’re required to comply with right now, and then explaining to them how that’s impacting consumers.”

Motley said MBA’s Diversity and Inclusion efforts are “incredibly important.”

“Our population is changing,” Motley said. “It is becoming a much more multicultural population and we need to be able to create an industry that reflects that population–the people we work with.”
