MBANow: Mortgage Action Alliance Chairman Gene Lugat
The Mortgage Bankers Association released two new MBANow videos on YouTube featuring MBA Mortgage Action Alliance Chairman Gene Lugat.
In the first video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RrW_Za8PkUc&feature=em-uploademail), Lugat discusses the upcoming MBA National Advocacy Conference in Washington. The Conference takes place June 20-21 in Washington.
“For those of you who have been here, you know how powerful it is to make your voice heard and how important it is to meet with your elected officials about issues that affect our industry,” Lugat said. “We’re representing our industry and the people in the communities we serve.”
In the second video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Igrg_hHE_SI&feature=em-uploademail), Lugat, executive vice president with PrimeLending, Winchester, Va., discusses the importance of becoming involved with MAA, the grassroots advocacy arm of MBA, and its goals for 2017 and beyond.
“We have three main pillars for 2017-2018,” Lugat said. “One is expanding our membership to 25,000, and to do that we believe in reaching out to our membership base through video, as we are doing here, where we can provide information and insights and strategies back to our communities and out members about what is happening on Capitol Hill.”
The second pillar, Lugat said, is reaching into the non-sales element of mortgage banking. “It’s one of the populations we feel is underserved and one that we can expand our membership. These are people who are in operations positions and who are excited about having their voices be heard.”
The third pillar is expanding MBA’s state and local workshops. “We want to provide support at this level, where so much legislation and regulation takes place,” Lugat said.
