MBANow: MBA VP Rick Hill on Technology Trends
The Mortgage Bankers Association released a new MBANow video on YouTube featuring MBA Vice President of Industry Technology Rick Hill, who previews technology trends ahead of the MBA National Technology in Mortgage Banking Conference & Expo later this month.

“There’s been a huge focus on the consumer in the past several years, as we’ve been able to put some of the regulatory focus behind us,” Hill said. “The focus now is on serving the consumer–when they want to be served, how they want to be served and how you deal with the communications with all that.”
Hill also noted the increase in emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, automated robotic processes, blockchain and cybersecurity. “One of the biggest challenges is the difficulty in having a vision in the organization,” Hill said. “Where is the industry going? Where is the consumer going? And what are my core competencies as an organization and how to build on them.”
Hill said electronic mortgages will continue to emerge in the next few years, driven by Millennials. “It’s also just as true for those of us who have gotten mortgages in the past few years is that we don’t want to go into a bank, either,” he said. “The whole electronic mortgage process is finally starting to take off.”
The MBA National Technology in Mortgage Banking Conference & Expo takes place Mar. 26-29 in Chicago. It features presentations by MBA Chairman Rodrigo Lopez, CMB; a keynote address by Steve Case, chairman and CEO of Revolution LLC and co-founder of America Online; and a presentation by MBA Chief Economist Mike Fratantoni.
