Senate Committee Forwards Patenaude Nomination

The Senate Banking Committee, as expected, approved the Trump Administration’s nomination of Pamela Hughes Patenaude as Deputy Secretary with HUD.

The Mortgage Bankers Association supports Patenaude’s nomination. MBA President and CEO David Stevens, CMB, issues a statement following the Committee’s approval.

“I want to congratulate Pam for being approved by the Senate Banking Committee to be the next Deputy Secretary of Housing and Urban Development,” Stevens said. “I know from the many years we have worked together that her knowledge of real-estate finance and deep background, experience and understanding of housing issues will serve her well. I can think of nobody more well-suited for this position and I encourage the full Senate to move swiftly to confirm her nomination.”

Patenaude served most recently as president of the J. Ronald Terwilliger Foundation for Housing America’s Families and was a former director of housing policy with the Bipartisan Policy Center. She served with HUD as assistant secretary for Community, Planning and Development during the George W. Bush Administration. She had been considered a strong candidate for HUD secretary before President Trump selected Ben Carson.

Patenaude’s nomination now goes to the full Senate for confirmation, which is expected to take place soon.
