The Mortgage Bankers Association released its latest MBANow video, featuring MBA Chairman-Elect Rodrigo Lopez, CMB, who discusses the importance of CEO engagement in MBA and the importance of industry diversity and inclusion.
Lopez, executive chairman of NorthMarq Capital Finance, Omaha, Neb., said CEO involvement with MBA can influence processes and deliver value to customers.
“A lot of important decisions are made in Washington, D.C., and we have to be part of how those decisions are made,” Lopez said.
Lopez noted that MBA research shows more than 15 million new households will form over the next 10 years, many from diverse backgrounds.
“It has been my pleasurer to serve as chairman of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee over the past year,” Lopez said. “We want to make sure our industry is inclusive, so we can be diverse and as such, serve our customers better.”
Lopez also called for engagement with younger professionals to be. “One of the most important things I’ve done in my life is engaged with young people,” he said. “A lot of us came into the industry by accident. We want to be sure that college graduates are prepared to serve our consumers across the United States; getting them involved during their college years is important.”
