MBANow: MBA Economist Lynn Fisher on Mortgage Credit Availability Updates

MBA Vice President of Research and Economics Lynn Fisher joined MBANow to talk about recent updates and improvements to the Mortgage Credit Availability Index, an MBA Research product that tracks the supply of credit.  

“We always monitor the indexes that we publish and we always look for new ways to make them better and more relevant to the industry,” Fisher said. With the MCAI, she added, “the index better fits changes within the market.”  

Changes to the MCAI includes an updated methodology to account for a broader group of investors; and a change to the definition of conforming and jumbo mortgages tracked by the MCAI that no longer include government mortgages.
