RentCafe, Santa Barbara, Calif., released a new report analyzing which cities are seeing the most renter interest, particularly ahead of the busy summer rental season. Topping the list is Cincinnati.
Cincinnati, with more people searching for apartments and saving listings, jumped 10 spots from this time last year.
Next is Atlanta, up one spot from last year. No. 3 is Minneapolis, followed by Washington, D.C. and Baltimore. And rounding out the top 10 are Cleveland, San Jose, Calif., Philadelphia, Kansas City, Mo., and Birmingham, Ala.
El Paso, Texas, saw the largest jump on the list, climbing 115 spots to break the top 30 at position No. 28.
While renter activity usually cools toward the end of the year, these cities generally maintained strong engagement, RentCafe noted.
The Midwest and South saw the strongest engagement. The Midwest had 11 cities in the top 30, and the South had 10. The West saw seven spots and the Northeast only two.
RentCafe analyzes the cities on their availability rate, page views, favorites and saved searches to provide the rankings.
