Why You Should Participate in MBA’s CREF Councils and Committees

MBA needs your expertise to drive the industry’s response to the challenges facing your business. We offer many opportunities to participate in our CREF Councils and Committees–formulating policy, developing content for conferences and programs, connecting with colleagues and furthering the real estate finance industry.

Share your unique perspectives and lend your voice to the collective power of the mortgage banking community by serving on an MBA commercial/multifamily council or committee.

It’s also a great way to connect with other members and learn from each other’s experience.

Quentin Fogan

“Engagement at the MBA committee and council level provides incredible access to leaders across the commercial real estate landscape–members are more informed about what is impacting our industry and they are better resourced to help their firms navigate an increasingly dynamic market,” said Quentin Fogan, managing director and head of origination with Bank of America. Fogan chairs MBA’s Commercial Real Estate/Multifamily Finance Board of Governors (COMBOG), which shapes the policies and priorities that drive our industry forward.

While most CREF Councils and Committees have occasional face-to-face meetings, such as at MBA conferences or at MBA headquarters, most enable members to participate by phone call or by video conference. MBA also has Executive Councils, which are invitation-only bodies or groups that focus on specific industry segments or issues.

Kelli Burke

“MBA’s groups bring together professionals representing Agency lenders, banks, FHA/HUD lenders and servicers, insurance companies, intermediaries, private credit providers, servicers and asset managers, structured finance market participants, and technology professionals from across the commercial and multifamily real estate finance industry, ” said Kelli Burke, MBA vice president of commercial real estate finance and strategic industry engagement. “We encourage members to participate in calls, meetings, and events aligned with their interests to build relationships, gain industry insights, and maximize the value of their MBA membership.”

Most CREF Councils and Committees are open; you can join at any time. For a list of current opportunities and background information, click here.
