
RentCafe Finds Cities That Offer Most Rental Space for $1,500

RentCafe, Santa Barbara, Calif., released a report analyzing which large cities offer the most space for a monthly rent of $1,500.
Wichita, Kan., topped the list, with 1,329 square feet available for a monthly rent of $1,500.
Next is Toledo, Ohio, with 1,268 square feet available. Following that are Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Okla., and Lubbock, Texas.
Rounding out the top 10 are Memphis, Tenn., Fort Wayne, Ind., Baton Rouge, La., El Paso, Texas, and Corpus Christi, Texas.
On average nationwide, renters can get 715 square feet of space for a monthly rent of $1,500.
In general, the South is well-represented on RentCafe’s analysis, with 12 of the top 20 large cities offering the most square footage for a budget of $1,500.
On the flip side, Manhattan leads the list of large cities where monthly rent of $1,500 gets you the least rental space, offering just 216 square feet, or less than a studio. Second is nearby Brooklyn, where $1,500 would garner 297 square feet. Boston is No. 3, offering 311 square feet. San Francisco would get 325 square feet and Jersey City, N.J., would see 331 square feet.
For small cities, renters in McAllen, Texas, could get nearly 1,400 square feet for $1,500, followed by Columbus, Ga., Macon, Ga., Jackson, Miss., and Brownsville, Texas.
Small cities offering the least square footage are Sunnyvale, Calif., (385 square feet) Pasadena, Calif., Glendale, Calif., Bellevue, Wash., and Huntington Beach, Calif.
