RentCafe IDs Cities With Roomiest Apartments on a Budget

RentCafe, Santa Barbara, Calif., recently analyzed which cities feature the largest apartments for $1,500 monthly rent. Topping the list of big cities was Wichita, Kan., followed by Toledo, Ohio.
In Wichita, renters can get 1,359 square feet of living space on a monthly rental budget of $1,500. In Toledo, renters can find 1,345 square feet–big enough for a three- or even four-bedroom unit, RentCafe noted.
Rounding out the top five are Oklahoma City; Tulsa, Okla.; and Memphis, Tenn.
The list of cities where $1,500 garners the least amount of space is topped by Manhattan, N.Y., with 228 square feet. No. 2 is Brooklyn, N.Y., with 300 square feet, followed by Boston; San Francisco, and Jersey City, N.J.
Looking at small cities with the most space for $1,500, Columbus, Ga., takes the cake with 1,432 square feet. Next is McAllen, Texas, with 1,423 square feet. No. 3 is Jackson, Miss., followed by Akron, Ohio, and Macon, Ga.
The tightest space in a small city for $1,500 was Sunnyvale, Calif., followed by Pasadena, Calif.; Glendale, Calif.; Bellevue, Wash., and Huntington Beach, Calif.
