BWE Names New CEO, EVP-Level Hires
Bellwether Enterprise Real Estate Capital, Cleveland, announced DJ Effler, currently company President, will become CEO and a member of the board effective July 1. BWE also recently announced new Executive Vice President appointments in North Carolina.
Effler replaces founding CEO Ned Huffman, who will remain a special adviser to the company.
Effler has been President since 2020, leading company initiatives with a focus on production, talent retention and recruitment efforts, along with overseeing the Columbus, Ohio, office and numerous investor relationships. He also previously served as a BWE Executive Vice President.
Additionally, BWE announced that James “Jimbo” Tanner and Henry Tanner joined the company as Executive Vice Presidents in its Raleigh, N.C., office, specializing in Federal Housing Administration-insured multifamily project loans.
James and Henry Tanner are brothers.
James Tanner brings a nearly 30-year career in mortgage banking to BWE. He has specialized primarily in the origination, processing and servicing of FHA-insured project loans. He most recently served as Senior Managing Director for HUD/FHA Loans in Berkadia’s Raleigh office.
Henry Tanner has spent two decades in the industry. He has also specialized in the FHA programs to secure project financing for his clients. Before coming to BWE, Henry was a Managing Director for HUD/FHA Loans in Berkadia’s Raleigh office.
CBRE Appoints Chris Bodnar for Advisory Services Healthcare Unit
CBRE, Dallas, announced Chris Bodnar joined as leader for Advisory Services Healthcare in the U.S., where he will drive CBRE’s health care growth strategy across its Advisory Services lines of business, including Capital Markets and Advisory & Transaction Services.
Bodnar will lead CBRE’s Healthcare Capital Markets national practice, which provides real estate investors with acquisition, disposition and debt, and equity recapitalization strategies across the continuum of care. He previously co-founded the practice in 2006, but left CBRE to start his own private equity firm specializing in health care real estate.
David McCaslin Joins CapStar Advisors
CapStar Advisors, Washington, D.C., added David McCaslin as a full Partner.
The firm primarily serves as an adviser to hospitality investors and operators, with a focus on mergers, sales or acquisitions of small- to medium-sized companies in both the U.S. and Europe.
McCaslin helped found the original CapStar with Founder and Partner Paul Whetsell and is a 45-year veteran of the industry with a background in hotel operations and development.
