Hoops Joins Venable’s Real Estate Practice in Washington, D.C.
Venable LLP announced William “Bill” Hoops joined the firm’s Real Estate Practice as counsel in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office.

Hoops was previously vice president and senior corporate real estate counsel with a financial institution. He will focus his practice on real estate finance and project development matters involving the purchase, sale, construction and build-out of retail, office and warehouse properties.

Hoops has represented borrowers and lenders in loan originations and credit facilities for commercial real estate, multifamily and senior housing properties, including commercial mortgage-backed securities, private equity and portfolio. He has managed litigation, property management, enforcement proceedings and legal matters, including the Americans with Disabilities Act, fire and life safety requirements, and environmental, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, insurance and condemnation matters. He has also advised landlord and tenant clients on leasing matters involving shopping centers, office buildings and warehouse facilities.

Walker & Dunlop Hires Multifamily Investment Sales Team in Dallas
Walker & Dunlop, Bethesda, Md., hired an investment sales team in Dallas. Managing Directors Jeff Price, Bill Simmons and Alisan Rutland will lead the team in the origination and execution of multifamily investment sales, with a focus in Texas and the southern United States.

With more than six decades of combined experience, Price, Simmons and Rutland have closed $10 billion-plus of investment sales volumes during their careers. Prior to joining Walker & Dunlop, the team was part of the Capital Markets group at Jones Lang LaSalle, where they were responsible for multifamily property marketing and sales. Previously, they worked at The Apartment Group, a multifamily brokerage and consulting firm Price founded.

JLL Adds Stowell to Public Institutions Team
JLL hired Lindsay Stowell as Senior Vice President of Public Institutions to advise civic institutions on how to find savings through real estate efficiencies.

Based in Chicago, Stowell will work with clients in the government and public higher education sectors across the U.S., advising on all aspects of large-scale public sector projects, including development, construction, finance, legal document review and property management. She will also provide leadership for the development and implementation of special projects, new initiatives and innovations based on key strategic client goals.

Stowell has more than 16 years of finance and consulting experience, including commercial and financial transaction structuring, deal negotiation, feasibility analysis, financial modeling and analysis and valuation. Prior to joining JLL, Stowell was a Director in the infrastructure advisory practice at KPMG, where she was the higher education sector lead, responsible for leading teams in the implementation of strategic assignments and project finance-based transactions. She also served as a finance specialist on the public-private partnerships (P3) team at the International Finance Corporation, advising government clients on emerging markets P3 transactions in the infrastructure sector.
