Lewis to Lead Cushman & Wakefield’s Valuation and Advisory Platform
Eric Lewis will take the helm as President of Cushman & Wakefield’s Valuation & Advisory platform for the Americas.

Lewis, who most recently served as Executive Managing Director and Practice Group Leader of the firm’s V&A Hospitality & Gaming practice, has worked for Cushman & Wakefield for 26 years.

As President, Lewis will oversee the operations of the Americas V&A group, which includes 600 professionals across six core services, 17 practice groups and 70 offices. Last year, the Cushman & Wakefield V&A team appraised more than 31,000 U.S. properties valued at $1.16 trillion and 3,710 properties valued at $146 billion in Canada.

Before his promotion and since 2005, Lewis oversaw the V&A platform’s Hospitality & Gaming group as Practice Lead. In that role, he managed 25 senior valuation professionals dedicated to the hospitality industry. In 2017, the group appraised properties valued at more than $76 billion.

O’Hern to Become Macerich Co. CEO
The Macerich Co., Santa Monica, Calif., announced Thomas O’Hern will become CEO effective January 1, 2019.

O’Hern will succeed Arthur Coppola, who is retiring from the as of December 31. O’Hern currently serves as the company’s Senior Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer and will continue to serve in that role until his appointment to CEO.

The company also announced that Scott Kingsmore, currently Senior Vice President of Finance, will assume the role of Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer effective January 1.

Walker & Dunlop Hires Capital Markets Professionals in Philadelphia
Walker & Dunlop hired a new debt financing team in Philadelphia. The team is led by John Banas and Kristopher Wood, who both joined Walker & Dunlop as Senior Vice President and Managing Director.

Additional team members include Vice President Chad Levitt, Assistant Vice Presidents Gareth Hissong, Martin Duval and Tom Hemcher and Analyst Adam Rudman. The team will source and structure permanent, bridge and construction loans for all commercial real estate asset classes.

Banas, Wood, Levitt, Hissong, Hemcher and Duval join Walker & Dunlop from Colliers International, where they sourced debt and equity financing for property types including multifamily, office, industrial, retail, student and seniors housing and hospitality. Collectively, the team has closed more than $3.3 billion in transaction volume throughout their careers.

Payne Joins Hunt Mortgage Group as Vice President
Hunt Mortgage Group, New York, hired Jeff Payne as a Vice President. In his new role, Payne will originate debt for Hunt Mortgage Group’s conventional and small balance Fannie Mae and

Freddie Mac Loan Programs and Hunt’s Proprietary Commercial, Bridge and Mezzanine Loan Programs for clients in the South Central United States. He will work from the firm’s Houston office.

Payne joined Hunt from PlainsCapital Bank, where he was Senior Vice President of Commercial Real Estate Lending covering the Houston market. Prior to that, he served for 22 years as First Vice President and Houston Market head with Citibank’s Commercial Real Estate Group (First Gibraltar/Cal Fed until it was acquired by Citibank in 1999), where he originated more than $1 billion in multifamily and commercial mortgage loans for Citibank’s Commercial Real Estate portfolio.

In addition to mortgage originations, Payne has extensive experience in underwriting, asset management and loan workouts.
