Berkadia Hires Bracken to Expand Affordable Housing Team
Berkadia added Timothy Bracken to its Affordable Housing team as a Director, expanding the group’s capabilities with an investment sales presence. He will work from the firm’s Denver office.

Bracken brings more than 15 years of commercial real estate experience in institutional debt and equity investment across dispositions, acquisitions, financing and asset management functions, with a particular focus on multifamily. In this time, he has transacted on 46 properties totaling 6,500 units and $340 million.

Prior to joining Berkadia, Bracken was Vice President for Alden Torch Financial, the nation’s largest LIHTC apartment investor. In this role, he executed disposition and acquisition initiatives and co-led a HUD portfolio refinance totaling $150 million in new loan proceeds. Before Alden, Bracken served as Director and Head of Asset Management at JCR Capital. He founded and oversaw the firm’s asset management platform, which included opportunistic value-add multifamily, industrial, retail, office and land projects.

Cohen Joins Castle Lanterra as Managing Partner
Castle Lanterra Properties, Suffern N.Y, appointed Gila Cohen Managing Partner. In her new role, Cohen will focus on leading the firm’s corporate strategy, mergers and acquisitions and private placement efforts.

Cohen has more than 20 years of financial services and real estate experience as a consultant, strategic advisor and private placement professional, as both a principal and advisor.

Most recently, Cohen was a senior consultant, head of corporate strategy and client relations for Courtland Partners, a real estate advisory firm and direct investor, where she advised large corporations, insurance companies, RIAs and pension funds on real estate allocations and capital deployment opportunities within their portfolios. Previously she served as managing director and global chief operating officer of private equity at Capital Dynamics and chief administrative officer and head of business development for Golub Capital.

JLL adds White in Denver, Salt Lake City
JLL, Chicago, hired Michael White as a Managing Director. He will focus on providing clients with debt and structured finance expertise for commercial real estate transactions in Denver and Salt Lake City.

White brings more than 20 years of experience in debt and structured financing executions in student and multifamily housing as well as industrial, hospitality and office transactions.

White joined JLL from Plum Creek Capital Advisors, where he was a managing principal. In addition to his involvement in debt transactions over his career, he has also been the transactional lead for well over $2 billion of real estate joint venture equity and structured finance engagements.
