Berkadia Hires Witherspoon in Texas
Berkadia hired Kelly Witherspoon as Managing Director to lead its multifamily investment sales platform in Austin, Texas. He brings 14 years of experience to Berkadia, having sold over 41,000 units totaling $2.4 billion in transaction volume in Texas.
Witherspoon will be responsible for overseeing and expanding Berkadia’s investment sales platform in the Austin metro area.
Prior to joining Berkadia, Witherspoon was a managing director in the multifamily division at Stream Realty Partners in Austin. He was the company’s top multifamily producer nationally during his three-year tenure and focused primarily on business development and transaction advisory throughout Texas. He also previously held positions at ARA Newmark and other national commercial real estate firms where he performed transaction services, portfolio analysis, market trend research and tenant representation services.
Short Joins Hunt Mortgage Group as Managing Director
Hunt Mortgage Group, New York, announced that Justin Short joined the firm as Managing Director.
Short will focus on expanding Hunt Mortgage Group’s Proprietary (non-agency) platform, including originating loans. He will operate from the firm’s Dallas office.
Prior to joining Hunt Mortgage Group, Short was head of trading for the specialty real estate finance firm and investment manager Allegiant Real Estate Capital, which spun off from FirstKey lending, a Cerberus portfolio company. Before that, he was head of trading and capital markets at Blackstone’s single-family rental platform, B2R Finance, and head trader for Cantor Commercial Real Estate, Cantor Fitzgerald’s commercial real estate lending platform.
Short started his career in real estate finance at Bear Stearns and subsequently, after the merger, JPMorgan, where during his eight-year tenure he focused on CMBS trading and capital markets. While there he was involved in conduit, large loan, fixed and floating rate, and large public to private commercial mortgage origination, structuring, whole loan and subordinate debt trading and securitization.
HFF Hires Fertitta in its Carolinas Office
Holliday Fenoglio Fowler, hired Anthony Fertitta Jr. as managing director in its Charlotte, N.C., office.
Fertitta joins HFF with more than 23 years of real estate project and corporate finance/capital markets experience, primarily with Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Most recently, He coordinated commercial lending and capital markets activities for a broad spectrum of REIT/REOC, real estate opportunity fund/investment manager, homebuilder and real estate service company clients around the U.S. in bank’s Real Estate Corporate Banking Group.
Gingold Joins Sonnenblick-Eichner
Zachary Gingold joined real estate investment banking firm Sonnenblick-Eichner Co., Beverly Hills, Calif., as an Associate.
Gingold brings to Sonnenblick-Eichner experience in underwriting, negotiation and closing of more than $300 million in real estate debt transactions. He will prepare investment and financing memoranda and complete the financial analyses and market research associated with each transaction.
Prior to joining Sonnenblick-Eichner Gingold held internships at iBorrow LP (formerly Eagle Group Finance) and Latitude Management Real Estate Investors.
