Sports Talk on The Side Stage with Mike Eruzione
Join us at the Side Stage to see Mike Eruzione, captain of the 1980 United States Olympic Hockey Team. The highlight of the Lake Placid games for Eruzione was scoring the game-winning goal against the Soviet Union. That victory against the Soviets advanced the U.S. Hockey Team to the Gold Medal Game where they beat Finland to win the Gold Medal.
After the victory in Lake Placid, Eruzione spent several years in New York and New Jersey as a sports commentator for Madison Square Garden. In 1984 he joined ABC and was a broadcaster for the Winter Olympics in Sarajevo, the Summer Olympics in Los Angeles and the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary. In 1992 he did broadcasting for CBS in Albertville, France and in Lillehammer, Norway during the 1994 Olympic Games.
Opening General Session: An Entrepreneur’s Vision of the Future with Steve Case
Join us Monday, February 12 for the Opening General Session featuring MBA President and CEO David Stevens, CMB, and keynote speaker Steve Case , Chairman and CEO of Revolution LLC, Washington, D.C.
In his best-selling business book, The Third Wave, Case argues we’re entering the Third Wave of the Internet–a period when entrepreneurs will change the way we live our lives by leveraging new technologies to transform real world sectors like health, education, transportation, energy and food. By looking back at his decision-making during some of the most consequential moments in business history in order to explain the current landscape, Case explains how attendees will need to rethink their relationships with customers, competitors and governments alike, and offers a forward-thinking roadmap for navigating in this new paradigm.
Case’s entrepreneurial career began in 1985 when he co-founded America Online. Under his leadership, AOL became the world’s largest and most valuable Internet company, driving the worldwide adoption of a medium that has transformed business and society. AOL was the first Internet company to go public and the best performing stock of the 1990s, delivering a 11,616% return to shareholders. At its peak, nearly half of Internet users in the United States used AOL. In 2000, he negotiated the largest merger in business history, bringing together AOL and Time Warner in a transaction that gave AOL shareholders a majority stake in the combined company.
