Hunt Mortgage Group Acquires Staff of 1410 Partners LLC
Hunt Mortgage Group, New York, acquired the staff of 1410 Partners LLC, an advisor to private and non-profit development firms financing multifamily housing projects, to expand its West Coast affordable housing team.
John McAlister joins Hunt as Managing Director and West Coast Team Leader and Sean Spear becomes Managing Director.
McAlister and Spear will be based in a newly formed Pasadena, Calif. office. McAlister founded 1410 Partners LLC and Spear served as a Managing Director.
McAlister has served for nearly 20 years as consultant, advisor or underwriter on more than 250 different tax-exempt or taxable bond transactions. He also has extensive experience with many conventional financings or the refinancing of multifamily housing projects including loans secured by Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA/HUD or other debt guarantors, bank or finance company private placements, or non-rated or rated bonds sold to institutional investors.
Spear also brings private sector experience from his time with Fannie Mae; then providing housing development and public financing resources across the Western U.S. During his career, he served as Executive Director of the California Debt Allocation Committee, administering the private activity bond program for California. Before joining CDLAC, he was the Director of Major Projects for the City of Los Angeles Housing Department (now HCIDLA); responsible for the City’s rental housing production programs.
Melchione Joins People’s United Bank As Executive Vice President
People’s United Bank, New York, announced that Mark Melchione joined the bank as Executive Vice President of Commercial Real Estate, responsible for the New York City and Long Island markets.
Melchione brings more than 26 years of experience to the position, including substantial leadership and mentorship expertise in support of teams serving private and public real estate companies based in New York.
Prior to joining the bank, Melchione was Group Manager and Administrative Vice President at Manufacturers & Traders Trust Co., acting as senior leader in charge of a $5 billion profit center within a $7 billion commercial real estate balance sheet lending platform. Previously, he was Regional Manager and Senior Vice President at Wachovia and Wells Fargo, where for 12 years he managed the combined New York City metropolitan-area profit center for the bank’s largest urban market. Prior to this, he was a member of PNC’s Commercial Real Estate banking team for more than nine years.
Colliers International Expands with Hospitality Investment Team Meng and Grantham
Colliers International in Phoenix expanded into hospitality investment services by adding Vice President James Meng and Associate Vice President Jon Grantham.
Meng and Grantham specialize in hospitality investment properties, including branded and boutique assets, throughout the western U.S. Working on behalf of private investors, hotel investment companies, offshore investors, private equity funds, pension funds and public companies, the team provides advisory services and representation in the disposition, acquisition, management, financing and portfolio restructuring of hospitality assets.
Meng’s operational background includes general manager positions at Best Western, Clarion Hotel and Comfort Inn by Choice Hotels, Red Lions Hotel by Hilton, Holiday Inn Suites by IHG, Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott and select high-end boutique hotels.
Grantham began his career with Pierce-Eislen before joining Meng’s team as a hospitality and multifamily investment sales specialist. He closed more than $33 million in transactions in 2014.
