Pillar Hires Anvar, Whittier

Pillar, New York, appointed Artin Anvar a managing director in its Washington, D.C. location. 

Anvar joins Pillar with more than 15 years of commercial real estate finance experience, specializing in highly structured transactions. He will originate loans across all of Pillar’s product lines, including HUD, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, CMBS, life insurance and bridge loans.  

Prior to joining Pillar, Anvar was the Senior Director at Love Funding where he place a range of real estate debt, equity and structured finance products. He focused on originating HUD insured loans on multifamily properties. In addition to his role with Love Funding, Anvar was president of LFC Securities LLCand worked at Trammell Crow Co. as an MBA associate. His previous experience also includes working at Morgan Stanley and Charles Schwab Institutional. 

Pillar also appointed Colin Whittier a director in the firm’s Frisco, Texas office. He is responsible for structuring and funding capital for multifamily real estate assets across all of Pillar’s product lines. 

Whittier has arranged hundreds of millions of dollars in financing for properties in various markets nationwide and has been involved in more than $1 billion in transactions since 2004. He has more than 15 years of commercial real estate finance experience.

Prior to joining Pillar, Whittier served as director at Prudential Mortgage Capital, vice president at KeyBank Real Estate Capital and assistant vice president at Collateral Mortgage/Grandbridge. 

Berkeley Point Capital’s White Moves to Originations
Tom White started a new role as a director in originations for Berkeley Point Capital. He will continue to operate out of the firm’s Bethesda, Md. office to develop new and existing relationships and provide borrowers with multifamily products and capital solutions.  

White moved to the production side after most recently serving as Berkeley Point Capital’s FHA Chief Underwriter. Prior to that, he served as a deputy chief underwriter in the Irvine, Calif. and Bethesda offices. He also served as senior underwriting supervisor for two of the firm’s satellite offices in Santa Monica and Walnut Creek, Calif.  

Prior to joining Berkeley Point, White had eight years of underwriting experience with Washington Mortgage Financial Group and AMI Capital Inc.
