CBRE Group Announces Executive Leadership Promotions

CBRE Group, Los Angeles, announced a series of executive leadership promotions. 

Jim Reid will assume new leadership responsibilities as chief operating officer for the Americas, overseeing the financial and operational management of the region. He will have executive oversight for CBRE’s Asset Services, Valuation and Advisory and Canada businesses. Reid was previously president of CBRE’s U.S. Eastern Division. 

Michael Caffey received a promotion to president of CBRE’s Texas and Oklahoma division. He was previously executive managing director for Texas and Oklahoma. Chris Connelly was promoted to president of CBRE’s Midwest division. He was previously executive managing director for the Chicago region. 

Mary Jo Eaton became president of CBRE’s Florida and Latin America divisions. She was previously executive managing director for Florida. 

Caffey, and Connelly and Eaton join John Ferguson, president of the Southeast Division; Lew Horne, president of the GLA/OC Division, Matt Van Buren, president of the Northeast Division; and Steve Swerdlow, president of the West Division as CBRE’s division presidents in the U.S. 

Auction.com Hires Happ, Patel for CRE Division
Auction.com, Irvine, Calif., hiring Norman Happ as chief revenue officer and Sharmila Patel as senior vice president of commercial real estate finance and operations. 

Happ will work from Auction.com’s Silicon Valley office and report to Gordon Smith, general manager of Auction.com’s commercial real estate division. He joined Auction.com from Intuit, where he most recently served as go-to-market vice president overseeing sales, marketing and business development within the small business division. Prior to joining Intuit, he was vice president of inside sales at H&R Block and he spent several years at technology firms including computer software solutions company Anachron from 1999 to 2002 as co-founder and vice president. Patel brings strong cross-functional background to a new role focused on maintaining the alignment of Auction.com’s day-to-day operations with its strategies. She brings with her more than two decades of financial leadership and executive experience working in various industries, including financial services and technology.

Patel joins Auction.com from Inform Media Group, a division of IAC, the company behind Ask.com, About.com, Dictionary.com and others, where she served as senior vice president of finance. She also spent three years as vice president of global technology finance at Yahoo! where she developed long-term financial planning and forecasting. 

Hoeffel Joins Colony American Finance As CFO

Colony American Finance, Los Angeles, hired Christopher Hoeffel as its chief financial officer based in its New York office.  Colony American Finance provides acquisition financing and loans for investor-owned single-family rental portfolios. 

Hoeffel was most recently a managing director at Investcorp, where he was head of Real Estate Debt Investments, including three high-yield debt funds. He also served as head of investment operations and investor relations for real estate and corporate investments in the U.S. and Europe. He joined Investcorp from JP Morgan/Bear Stearns & Co., where he was a senior managing director and global co-head of commercial mortgages and founded a leading Wall Street lending operation.
