Owens to Lead CBRE Debt and Structured Finance for Hotels


CBRE Group, Los Angeles, announced that Mark Owens joined CBRE Capital Markets as executive vice president to lead Debt and Structured Finance for hotels. 

Based in New York, Owens will secure debt and structured finance products as well as institutional asset sales for CBRE’s global hotel clients with assets throughout North America. He has closed more than $6 billion in financing transactions in the hotel sector.

Owens joined CBRE from Ackman-Ziff, where he led the firm’s hospitality practice and was responsible for the origination and placement of hospitality related transactions, including debt, equity, joint-venture equity and transaction sales. During his tenure, he consistently arranged more than $1 billion in annual hospitality debt and equity transactions. He previously served as vice president at Sonnenblick Goldman, where he closed $3 billion in transactions representing a variety of institutional and opportunistic investors, as well as ownership/management companies. He also worked at HVS International’s New York office, where he consulted on more than $2 billion in hospitality real estate around the world, including expert testimony, valuations, feasibility analysis, operational consulting and strategic marketing initiatives. 

White Joins Savills Studley
Savills Studley appointed Michael White as senior managing director of its Phoenix office.In his new role, White will focus on providing tenant representation services on a regional, national and international level.

White has negotiated and completed 27 million square feet of commercial lease transactions and build-to-suits with a total aggregate value exceeding $2.1 billion. Prior to joining Savills Studley, he served as senior director for Cushman & Wakefield, senior vice president for Grubb & Ellis | BRE Commercial, LLC, senior managing director for Insignia/ESG and senior director for Koll Management Services, Inc. 

Kothari named Auction.com CFO
Auction.com, Irvine, Calif., hired technology finance veteran Aman Kothari as chief financial officer. He most recently served as senior vice president, global controller and chief accounting officer with Yahoo!

Before Yahoo!, Kothari was a senior manager with PricewaterhouseCoopers. He will oversee the company’s financial operations and growth strategies.
