Thomas Joins Gershman Mortgage and Other News
Michael Thomas joined Gershman Mortgage as vice president of multifamily and senior housing in the firm’s Denver office.
Thomas brings more than 14 years of real estate and banking experience with an emphasis in healthcare and assisted living real estate lending. Prior to joining Gershman, he was a top ranked banker nationally at First Citizens Bank, the largest family-controlled bank in the U.S. at $30 billion in assets. He will continue to focus on healthcare, assisted living and multifamily real estate lending at Gershman Mortgage with FHA-insured loans for permanent placement as well as construction.
Washington, D.C.-based Investment Sales Team Joins Walker & Dunlop
Walker & Dunlop, Bethesda, Md., announced that Christopher Doerr and William Harvey joined its investment sales group. Doerr and Harvey will originate and execute investment sales and equity capital raises for multifamily assets.
Prior to joining Walker & Dunlop, Doerr served as a senior managing director for five years at Cushman & Wakefield where he worked with the owners of institutional real estate providing disposition services for multifamily properties and land in the Washington, D.C. area as well as joint venture structuring, recapitalization and equity placement. Before C&W, he was vice president of multifamily investments for Grubb & Ellis.
Harvey served as an associate at Cushman & Wakefield prior to joining Walker & Dunlop. He assisted in the disposition and equity placement process with financial underwriting, preparation of marketing materials, property tours and due diligence coordination. He also Mr. Harvey’s prior experience includes served in the finance department at FINRA.
Arbor Appoints Gorbenko as FHA Director
Arbor Commercial Mortgage, Uniondale, N.Y., appointed loan originator Linda Gorbenko as director, FHA in the company’s Long Beach, Calif., office. Gorbenko is responsible for originating multifamily financing utilizing all of Arbor’s loan product offerings including FHA, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, CMBS, bridge, mezzanine and preferred equity. She has more than 18 years of experience and has originated more than $1.7 billion in loan transactions during her career while also playing a contributory role in helping to close an additional $1.9 billion in loans.
Prior to Arbor, she was executive director at CIBC where she originated short- and long-term, fixed- and floating-rate financing transactions. She also spent 16 years at GE, where she worked her way up from Associate to Senior Director in the company’s Los Angeles office.
