MBANow: Radian Chief Franchise Officer Brien McMahon

The Mortgage Bankers Association released a new MBANow video featuring Brien McMahon, chief franchise officer with Radian Guaranty, Philadelphia, who discusses the current state of the mortgage insurance market and the company’s participation with MBA.

McMahon expressed optimism for the future of the private insurance market–and for Radian. “Many people still feel like they can’t afford a home, that they have to put 20 percent down,” he said. “I’m shocked by that. So we spend a lot of time with our customers and with realtors…about how you can put 3 percent down on a home.”  

McMahon said Radian spends a lot of time “training” customers. “Our goal is to help our customers do more business and how using MI can create more business,” he said. “And now that we’ve acquired companies like Clayton, Red Bell and ValuAmerica, we’re really trying to complete that value circle, create that ‘stickiness’ with our customers so that we can offer them more.”  

“MBA is very important to us,” McMahon added. “When you look at the networking opportunities we have, where do you get a chance to spend time with all your customers and friends that you’ve built over the years?”
