Sept. 29: Bank CRE Lending – Navigating the Bank Regulatory Landscape
Since last year, the Federal Reserve Board, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. and the Comptroller of the Currency have strongly signaled to banks that commercial real estate lending and concentration risk management have become an area of emphasis for regulators.
This concern was most recently highlighted in an FDIC presentation in July and the OCC’s Semiannual Risk Perspective showing a rapid growth of CRE portfolios among certain banks. Furthermore, these statements broaden the concerns that were raised by the agencies in their Statement on Prudent Risk Management for Commercial Real Estate Lending in December 2015, which urged banks to review their risk management policies and practices related to CRE lending and assess appropriate risk levels.
To align your organization with these new developments, MBA is hosting a two-hour online webinar to help banks and other lenders understand the current regulatory environment for bank CRE lending.
The first half of the webinar will feature a regulator panel providing information related to CRE loan concentration risk and CRE loan risk management practices. The second half will examine how banks are addressing the heightened supervisory concern for CRE lending.
This panel will provide the perspectives of a large bank, a regional bank and a community bank.
This webinar is geared for all CRE market participants that have an interest in understanding the current CRE lending regulatory climate for banks.
