HFF Hires Tonnessen in New York
Holliday Fenoglio Fowler, L.P. hired Bob Tonnessen as a director focused on debt and equity placement transactions in its New York office.
Tonnessen joined HFF from Newmark Knight Frank where he was a director in their capital markets group where he helped execute and underwrite $10+ billion in financings in 2018. He has financed all asset classes across the country and has held positions at LoanCore Capital and GE Capital Real Estate.
JLL Grows Funds Advisory Business
JLL, Chicago, announced two hires for its Funds Advisory platform, Zaahir Syed and Molly Mahoney. Both joined the firm as Directors and will report to New York-based Jerry Cain, who leads the firm’s Funds Advisory business in the Americas.
Syed, based in Los Angeles, will lead the West Coast effort for Funds Advisory. In this role, he will focus on all aspects of the growing Funds Advisory business, working with real estate investors covering all facets of capital advisory, including fundraising, vehicle structuring, product sourcing, market strategy, and fund restructurings and recapitalizations.
Most recently, Syed was a Vice President in the Real Estate group for Lazard Private Capital Advisory. There he covered Western U.S. institutional investors and sourced potential engagements with GPs. Previously, Syed was a Principal with Blackstone in the Real Estate group.
Mahoney, based in New York, will lead distribution efforts, drawing on more than 12 years of experience covering institutional investors. She will also play a major role in product sourcing for the Funds Advisory business. Most recently, she was a Vice President at Shelter Rock Capital Advisors, where she was responsible for distribution and project management.
