MISMO Calls for Participation in New Initiative to Standardize Title Order Data Exchange

MISMO, the real estate finance industry’s standards organization, announced a call for industry professionals to join the Title and Closing Documents to Data Development Workgroup (DWG) to support development of the Title Order Dataset Specification. This new initiative will define a standardized dataset for exchanging title order information between lenders, title providers, and technology vendors.

“Currently, lenders submit title orders through inconsistent channels, including structured and unstructured emails, faxes, and phone calls, which leads to data gaps and errors that delay order initiation,” said MISMO President Brian Vieaux, CMB. “The new dataset specification will enable accurate, consistent, and efficient title order placement and complete MISMO’s suite of title and closing dataset specifications, from pricing through fulfillment.”

“The Title Order Dataset is a critical next step in strengthening interoperability and efficiency across the mortgage ecosystem,” said Bryan Bedard, Rocket Close, Chair of the Title and Closing Docs to Data DWG. “By creating a standardized approach to how title orders are exchanged, we’re helping lenders and title companies save time, reduce errors, and move closer to a truly digital process.”

The DWG invites active participation from title agents, lenders, technology providers, and title underwriters to ensure the new dataset reflects real-world needs and supports seamless adoption across the industry. These professionals bring critical perspectives and expertise that will help the group review and validate proposed data elements, finalize the dataset specification, and develop effective strategies for implementation and use.

Individuals interested in joining this group who are already MISMO Members may join the Title and Closing Docs to Data DWG collaboration site on MISMO Connect. Those not yet members who would like to participate should contact info@mismo.org. Meetings will be held on the first and third Wednesday of each month, beginning on December 3rd from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. ET via video conference.
