MBA Education Path to Diversity Scholar Profile: Le Tran

(One in a continuing series of profiles of participants in the MBA Education Path to Diversity (P2D) Scholarship Program, which enables employees from diverse backgrounds to advance their professional growth and career development.)

Le Tran

Le Tran joined WEOKIE Federal Credit Union, Oklahoma City, Okla., in 1995 and currently serve as its Assistant Vice President of Mortgage Underwriting.

Over the past 28 years, Le served in roles including servicing, processing, origination and AVP of Mortgage Production. Her ambition is to provide resources available to assist homeowners in achieving their dreams of homeownership.

Le is director of the WEOKIE Real Estate School, designed to assist real estate agents throughout Oklahoma with continuing education classes. In the community, she currently serve as the Board Chair for Neighborhood Housing Services of Oklahoma (NHS, Oklahoma), a non-profit organization established in 1981 with a mission to be the trusted resource in central Oklahoma for access to affordable housing and a path to home ownership through education, financial coaching, building and supportive services. Le encourages credit unions and mortgage bankers to get involve with their communities and build that relationship with the local non-profits such as NHS, Oklahoma.

Le recognizes the needs of access to affordable housing, in support off WEOKIE Federal Credit Union, she recently partnered with NHS, Oklahoma and created the WEOKIE HomePath Down Payment Assistance program. The WEOKIE HomePath DPA program offers flexible underwriting standards and income limits that opens doors to opportunities for low to moderate income families access to homeownership.

Le is an advocate for people helping people and is up for a challenge to serve. She is currently an active Board Chair for the Heartland Credit Union Real Estate Network for the past seven years and a board member of the Oklahoma Mortgage Banker Association for the past two years. Working with both the Heartland CUREN and the OMBA, she is dedicated to serve both organizations mission’s to help promote fair and ethical lending practices and fosters professional excellence among real estate finance employees through educational programs and providing industry information. She is a proud mother of two children who shares the same energy and passion as humble and servant leaders.

NEWSLINK: How did you learn about the MBA Path to Diversity Program?

LE TRAN: I came across the article while searching for educational opportunities on the MBA website. I did not hesitate to apply. I think this is awesome program that opens doors for many of us.

NEWSLINK: What inspired you to become more involved? Did a co-worker/supervisor/mentor encourage your participation?

TRAN: The MBA Diversity Equity and Inclusion mission to serve, fosters a culture of diversity equity and inclusion within the real estate finance industry inspires me to reach deeper, be transparent, setting roots for future generations.

NEWSLINK: Did you find the application process to be user-friendly?

TRAN: Yes, absolutely. The MBA DEI team have put a lot of thoughts in this program and I appreciate how easy they made the application process.

NEWSLINK: How has the Path to Diversity scholarship benefited you, personally and professionally? What have you been able to bring back to your company as a result of the Path to Diversity program?

TRAN: I am currently at the beginning stages of my journey in obtaining the Certified Residential Underwriting Designation through MBA. The scholarship enables me to secure my spot online along with covering costs. I feel knowledge opens doors to future opportunities, including strategic planning for growth and development.

NEWSLNK: What would you say to someone considering applying for a Path to Diversity scholarship?

TRAN: I would recommend anyone to apply. This is an opportunity for personal and professional growth through the resources available thru MBA’s diverse education platform. The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion scholarship helps cover the costs, which is a huge savings. If you are looking to sharpen your skills or just want to learn and expand your knowledge, the MBA online designation classes and training is a great start. There’s also opportunities thru the MBA Engage Mentoring program which I am excited to network and meet my peers and leaders that will bring new ideas and challenges.

The Path to Diversity Scholarship Program recognizes existing industry professionals who are seeking to advance their careers through continuing education. Recipients receive a voucher to cover course registration fees, up to a maximum of $2,000, for popular MBA Education courses and designation programs. This education opportunity enables employees from diverse backgrounds to advance their professional growth and career development.
