Jeanette Rice Joins Embrey to Lead Multifamily Research
Jeanette Rice returned to Embrey as a research consultant. Rice and Embrey will collaborate to release quarterly multifamily market reports, including high-level capital and property market analysis.
Rice joined Embrey from CBRE, where she served as Americas Head of Multifamily Research. She began her career in the multifamily sector, including leading market research for Embrey. Following Embrey, she held research leadership positions with HFF (now part of JLL), Lend Lease Real Estate Investments, Crescent Real Estate Equities and Verde Realty.
Rice earned a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Washington and a master’s degree in urban geography from Queen’s University in Canada. She also completed two years of graduate coursework in urban geography at The University of Chicago.
Bellwether Enterprise Appoints Paul Smith Senior Vice President in Columbus
Bellwether Enterprise Real Estate Capital LLC, Cleveland, said Paul Smith has joined the company as Senior Vice President and Loan Originator in its Columbus office.
Smith brings more than 18 years of experience in capital markets. Prior to joining BWE, Smith served as a Senior Director in JLL’s Columbus office. During his seven years at the firm, he led the capital markets effort in Ohio and originated and executed over $1 billion in financing across all levels of the capital stack, including first mortgages, subordinate debt and joint venture equity. He also brings experience working across a variety of different property types, from affordable housing to luxury Class A buildings.
Before his role at JLL, Smith worked at Oak Grove Capital and Red Capital Group, where he held various positions and gained experience working with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, life insurance companies, debt funds and banks.
NMHC Names Wilson Géno President
The National Multifamily Housing Council, Washington, D.C., named Sharon Wilson Géno, a 30-year veteran of the housing industry, its President-Elect effective October 11.
Wilson Géno will assume the role of President from Doug Bibby at NMHC’s Annual Meeting in January 2023, when he officially steps down after more than 20 years of leading the organization. Until then, he will work with Wilson Géno to ensure a seamless transition.
Wilson Géno most recently served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Volunteers of America National Services. For the entirety of her career, she has helped guide numerous for-profit, nonprofit, and governmental entities on housing affordability, housing policy and related development and operational issues.
Sentinel Net Lease Appoints Jamie Ricalde, Laura Nguyen to New Roles
Sentinel Net Lease, Baltimore, added two members to its leadership team. Jamie Ricalde joined as Senior Associate of Asset Management & Acquisitions and Laura Nguyen joined as Director of Investor Relations and Marketing.
Ricalde will support the asset management and acquisition functions of Sentinel from new investment diligence and overall property and asset management of the portfolio of 15 properties. She previously worked in real estate capital markets within the corporate and investment banking division of Wells Fargo focusing on CMBS and balance sheet loans. She also has experience in historical tax credit syndication and international alternative investments. With more than 15 years of commercial real estate experience, Nguyen joined the Sentinel team to focus on developing and implementing strategies to grow Sentinel’s investment platform and market to potential investors. She has deep experience in executive-level portfolio management, debt and capital market decision management, risk mitigation, due diligence, investor relations and financial reporting. Nguyen previously served as Corporate Secretary and Director of Investor Relations of Wheeler Real Estate Investment Trust, where she served on the executive team that acquired and managed income-producing retail properties. Laura is the 2022 President of CREW (Commercial Real Estate Women) Network’s Coastal Virginia chapter and serves on CREW Network’s global industry research committee.
