Welcome to MBA CREF22
SAN DIEGO–Welcome to the Mortgage Bankers Association’s Commercial/Multifamily Finance Convention & Expo, running through Wednesday, Feb. 16. More than 2,400 commercial/multifamily real estate finance professionals are here at the Manchester Grand Hyatt.
MBA NewsLink and MBA Commercial/Multifamily NewsLink will provide onsite coverage; look for a special afternoon edition of MBA NewsLink this afternoon.
“I think this is a relationship business where the mortgage banker meets with lenders and other capital sources to get to know each other and each other’s backgrounds; they want to be able to shake hands with the person they are doing business with and create long-term relationships, so just for the industry itself it’s important to come together safely in person,” said MBA Senior Vice President of Commercial/Multifamily Mike Flood. He noted meeting safety protocols will be second to none.
Flood said this year’s conference will include a new segment called Deal Dialogues. “We’re having investment sales people come in and tell us where are apartments, hotels, retail properties and other sectors moving? What markets are doing well? I think that will be very important for the lenders to hear.”
Other highlights of this year’s conference include:
An opening general session with Earvin “Magic” Johnson, Monday, Feb. 14 from 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM PT. In an interview with MBA 2022 Chair Kristy W. Fercho, Johnson will discuss his winning business strategies and inspiring life lessons learned both on and off the court.
Then get the latest information and insights about the economy and commercial and multifamily real estate finance markets–including the release of MBA’s 2022 CREF forecast–from 1:00 – 2:00 PM PT on Monday.
